Our family comes from a farming background and frankly, we were tired of what we perceived as “fast-talking financial advisors”. In fact, my mother, Linda, told me of a time when she was sitting down with my dad at an advisor’s office and after the advisor made ‘his pitch’, my mother recalled that she was thinking, “I don’t have a clue what he just said!” It was if he was speaking a foreign language. We felt like our family was an easy target, because we didn’t have the education or information to make good financial decisions. In 1991, she decided to change that.
Abels Financial Services was truly born out of a need for the Abels’ family to be more knowledgeable and to have a sound financial education. Soon we recognized that our family was not unique. Over the past nearly 30 years, we have come to realize that many of the families we meet were like ours—they have never been taught the basic financial concepts needed to make sound financial decisions. We find this be especially true when it comes to planning for retirement. I joined the business with my mother in 2014 with the goal of continuing the family legacy of a business that is focused on financial education. And, in 2020, I purchased the business from her and plan to serve the community for years to come.
Families need someone to educate them, to guide them, and to help them avoid the big mistakes most people make in financial planning without worrying about being sold a product by someone they do know or trust. This is why we began the Retirement Resource Center.

We are a financial advocate for families and our goal is to provide education on basic financial concepts and concerns. We truly believe that access to more financial education and information will prepare our clients to make better financial decisions. This education has changed our family's life and we truly believe that it can help others as well.
